Grupo Jumex meets Clean Industry standard.Mexico City, December 18th of 2008

Grupo Jumex, the leading juices and nectars company in Mexico, has earned the certification that PROFEPA (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente) grants to Clean Industry achievers for the Jumex Chihuahua, Juguera 2000 and Jugomex processing plants in the State of Mexico.

The certification is evidence of Grupo Jumex's commitment to the preservation of the environment as an integral part the way it does business.

The Federal Government bestows the Clean Industry certification through PROFEPA within the framework of the National Environment Auditing Program, which recognizes companies that comply with current environmental standards and that commit themselves to continually improving their environmental performance.

This voluntary program seeks to identify, evaluate and control industrial manufacturing processes that might be operating under risky conditions or generating pollution.
To obtain a Clean Industry certificate, companies must undergo thorough checkups of each of their working processes and practices to prove they meet both regulated and unregulated environmental standards.

Our products, juices, nectars and beverages, can be made available to us mostly due to raw materials offered by the weather, water and lands cultivated in our country; hence, preserving environmental balance is key for our business."

• ECOCE Program - The first national voluntary plan for handling PET packaging waste.
• Green Production Chains Program - A program that encourages suppliers to meet their environmental goals and to make efficient use of resources.
• GEI Program, promoted by SEMARNAT (Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales) and CESPEDES (Comisión de Estudios del Sector Privado para el Desarrollo Sustentable) - Companies voluntarily commit to openly account for and report their emission of greenhouse gases.
• Biogas Exploitation Cogeneration Project, which led to a decrease of 25,336 tons in CO2 emissions.
